A 'new' CHARLIE release?

Communication I recently received from Julian Colbeck:

"Breaking news, Terry and myself are recording!
Very early days, but he's sending files from London and I'm working on them in California.
Material is classic stuff so far, so it's fun and we'll see where it goes and how long it takes.
No titles, releases, labels or anything at this stage; just having fun working on songs and recording.... kind of what music should be about, come to think of it!

I'll keep you posted on the recording but as you say a little too early to tell. I'd think whatever it becomes would probably appear as CHARLIE, though, yes.
Feel free to mention the fact we're working to the community; nothing more concrete to report but it might lift some spirits! "

Always great to hear that another Charlie CD is in the works. Take your time & most of all be content to let the creative juices flow. Might I suggest "i'm so happy" (73) & any other unreleased recorings that seem to be hanging around? You coule update them & all. Thanks, you've made my day with this bit news.

Go for it!

Doozle.

Let's have those tracks as part of a remastered project and have totally new tracks for a new album.

That way there is more Charlie for us all to savour.biggrin

Cannot wait for new music ........"Kitchens" is brilliant, its been in my CD player in the car since I purchased it almost 8 months ago now. Love the version of "Don't let go". The whole cd is well produced, well arranged, and WELL WRITTEN.

Been a fan since "Fantasy Girls" and "Kitchens" has left me wanting more !

Hot off the press (received an email from TT today):-

"I'm currently putting another album together with Julian, hopefully get it done by August time...watch this space !
Yes it will be under the Charlie name - I've got all the songs just need to get my head down and finish them."

This is great news, after the glorious "Kitchens", I have been looking forward to the follow up.

Better still August is just around the corner too.

Will it be released on Voice print again ?

Any chance of some song titles please ?

What is the recording band line up ?

Is Steve Alexander on drums ?

Will Terry/Charlie be doing any gig in support of the album ?

Please keep the updates coming

Update - a 'new' CHARLIE release?

Feedback today from TT:-

"About the new album - I might have been a bit ambitious in saying it would be done by August.

I still have a lot to do so work in progress.

The songs are all written and partially recorded.

The drummer will be the same Steve Alexander who used to be with Jeff Beck amongst many others -  I shall be covering guitars and bass and vocals and I'm hoping to get the majority of keyboards done by Julian.

So I'll let you know how it's going"

The most recent communication I've had with Terry Thomas (regarding the next CHARLIE release) was in Nov 2012.

"Re the Charlie album I'm working on it as we speak - got some of the real drum tracks done and plan to finish those in December - unfortunately Julian had to relocate his business in California and hasn't got his studio up and running so I'm still waiting for his contributions"

Communication with Terry in Sept 2012

"Proposed song list.....

YOUTUBE GIRL/CLUTCHING AT STRAWS/TALKING HEADS/MAKE IT REAL/VIRUS/ABANDON SHIP/CALL ME DAVE/SAD/KERRY KATONA/ LADY RADIO   in no particular order".

I like yourself, can't wait for it's release, but I suppose we just need to be patient !!!

I have had the advantage of hearing Abandon Ship, Call Me Dave, Sad and Kerry Katona last year at the Lampshades gig at the 100 club, will be interesting what the set will contain in May at the next Lampshades gig.

Thanks for the update Peter.

Have been a huge fan since the beginning!  Couldn't believe there was new material after all these years, was blown away by "Kitchens".  Waiting patiently in New Jersey for what comes next.

Howdy y'all. its now well into the month of MAY (2013) with Memorial Day just around the corner and I was wondering if anybody knows of an update on this project? Hopefully there's been some significant progress that's been made by now (fingers crossed). I don't mean to put any unwarranted, undue pressure but I'm just too curious for my own good I guess. That and I don't have anything new to listen to music wise, LOL. As always, thanks in advance for a timely response to my inquiry!

Just received this response from TT today - my question regarding an update on the new release.

"I have secured distribution through Floating World records who bought up Voiceprints catalogue (Voiceprint doesn't exist anymore), so I now have some motivation to get it done".

No indication to when.

Hi to the last person that responded to my update on a new release

I hope you've enjoyed the videos of the Fabulous Lampshade gig (in May), that were posted on this forum.

TT played a number of KOD tracks

Thanks Peter, yes I did see the videos and looking forward to the rest of the tracks TT did not play at the 100 club.

Do you have a track list by any chance ?

Update I received from Terry T:

"I have secured distribution through Floating World records (who bought up Voiceprints catalogue), so I now have some motivation to get it done.

I'm going to get back on it when I get back from Spain where I am at the moment, trouble is I keep writing new songs!!!"

Unfortunately there was no indication of when, or if any of these new songs are to be on it

Peter, that is superb and most welcome news.

I wonder how far he is into the process ?

Something to look forward to in 2014 perhaps.

Great news about the new songs too, you keep writing Terry, and we will keep buying them.

Time for the Lampshades to do another live show too please...................pretty please..............begging please.

Thanks for the update Peter.

Further update received from Terry this weekend:-

"Been working on the new album, got six songs ready to mix, just need to put real drums on five more"

Not having a clue how long these things take, plus how long it then takes to get to CD release - I've got ny fingers crossed for 2014!!

There might be some interest in the fact that work has been progressing on the new recording. With a following wind I will be sending Terry some keyboard-laden recordings by the end of the week and I hope it's not too presumptuous to predict a release is quite likely to happen in the not too distant future.

Julian, thank you very much for the update, news we have been waiting for a while. I hope to have a word with Terry at the 100 club on the 17th for any further news.

I am getting quite excited again at the prospect of a new Charlie release.

I got the chance to ask Terry for an update and got the following replies.

Q, Terry, is there much to do ?

A, Just one track to mix down.

Q Terry, does the album have a title yet ?

A, No not yet.

Q, Terry, are we talking a summer release ?

A, I need to talk to the other guy, we will see.

Terry playing his cards very close to his chest, but things are moving forward. Room for optimism me thinks
