New CHARLIE release is coming- Elysium

Just received the following from Terry:

"Just to let you know the new Charlie album Elysium will be released on Floating World Records at the end of October.

There are 14 tracks it's a bit self indulgent in that I didn't want to leave anything out!!

Terry"

This is brilliant news and most welcome, every since the 2009 release of the superb 'Kitchens of distinction', I have been excited at what Terry would do as a follow up and the wait is nearly over.

Peter, do you have a track listing yet ?

Hope the release will also include a few live dates.

Cannot wait to hear this.

Hi Geoff

The track listings would seem to be:

1. YouTube Girl
2. The Ballad of Kerry Katona
3. Virus
4. Make It Real
5. Elysium
6. I Want A Maserati
7. Thinking About You
8. Call Me Dave
9. Clutching At Straws
10. Hey Dude
11. Abandon Ship
12. The Super Rich
13. Sad

14. Talking Heads

On the Amazon Product Description, it states "For this final album....."

So is this going to be Terry's last shot??

Thank you very much Peter, just the 4 tracks I am familiar with having heard them played by the Lampshades, so 10 new tracks to delight the ears.

Cannot wait, but still 7 weeks to go.

Great News - just ordered it. Thanks for keeping us informed Peter - much appreciated.

Re the Final Album, I know Terry had "reworked" a few of the old songs over the last few years. Hopefully these will appear on any reissues if and when they are released.

Amazon seem to have it advertised at £12.39

Just had feedback from Peter Macklin @ Floating World Records LTD

He informs me it's soon to be posted on their site - and priced at £10

Amazon already has reviews before it is even released related to other stuff and a line in the description says "radio friendly hits including Men without Hats"

Amazon get your facts and act together

Can't wait to hear this new album but not listed on Amazon yet in the USA. Is it possible Terry will release a single and a YouTube video performance to go along with it or is that asking too much, would love to see it.

Just seen on Amazon that the release date has been put back.

The mp3 on Amazon for this new album is the 1983 Charlie album with Terry Slesser, and yeah the summary regarding Charlie facts are well and truly out.

Whoever this record label is they should sort out the correct information and bleedin' well pronto mate.

The one thing I do know is it's gonna sound top notch

I haven't checked in here for what seems like an eturnity so imagine my surprise when I found out that a new release is emmenent. Do I have great timing or what, LOL. I've already ordered it and breathlessly await its triumphant arrival. Charlie fans have been waiting a while for this release (since 2009) in fact I know its going to be a great listen from start to finish. Signing off now so I can order it up right now. This is great news y'all thanks for taking the time to produce another great classic rocking album!

Mines on its way from Amazon (due Saturday) but no MP3 rip (it's still the Charlie album) so will have to wait to hear it.

Got it!

The download from Amazon worked this morning so managed to listen to it and whilst playing for the 2nd time the CD dropped through the letter box. The CD is far better sound than the auto rip which appears distorted in places to me.

Really disappointed that Terry has stated in the sleeve notes (good notes from him btw) that this is the last CD under the Charlie name, but the notes do clear up the erroneous bio on Amazon regarding Men Without Hats (there is a crucial bit missing regarding It's Inevitable being the 2nd most played song on the radio behind Men Without Hats).

As for the music, it's what we have come to expect and the cutting lyrics are also in play - love the line regarding Kerry K, the IQ of a snail and gets her cocaine from a pail! A great last effort from Charlie (but perhaps Terry will release the live stuff they have from their university gigs in the states officially, rather than the streamed versions we had on the official website courtesy of Julian. I for one would love them).

Pigeon post to bonnie Scotland hasn't yet arrived, but thankfully I've listened to Elysium numerous times already (on Spotify).

Some great tracks on it.

Anyone manage to listen to Strange Brew radio on Saturday (which tracks were played, comments/feedback etc etc) ?

Well chuffed with this new album, I love it!

Nice touch for the bonus track on the CD plus many pictures in memory of Steve Gadd and everyone that graced the Charlie family tree.

Terry Thomas doing what he does best, CHARLIE.

Just curious as to the album 's (CD's) cover art, anything special or noteworthy about it? Looks rather mundane to me but looks can be deceiving. Does it show something of historical signifgance perhaps?

Anon, I am going to have a go at this as my interpretation of the cover/title.

Elysium: a place that favoured heroes are conveyed by the gods after death.

Paradise, heaven shangri-la.

So to me the statue of Liberty is the Elysium, the people on the boat are those that left their homes to seek a better life in the new world. I may be a million miles off, only Terry can confirm/deny if I am close or not, but that is how I see the cover.

I enjoyed it more than when I first saw it once I deduced my meaning.

Anyone else got a take on the cover that might differ from mine ?
