Is this really the end??

I (and I'm guessing lots/all of you) hope not.

Listening to Julian's recent radio interview (which was posted on the forum page by Sal Espana - the programme presenter/interviewer), Julian made a couple of comments that made me think there was a chance that we 'might' hear of Charlie in the future.

I've been in touch with Julian a couple of times recently, a) to do with the state of the Charlie website and b) the interview itself.

The following comments are 'snippets' taken from Julian's responses, to some of the questions I asked - which I thought you might find interesting:

26th Jan - Funnily enough I did meet up with Eugene last week in LA. He's coming over to the UK in April and we talked about the possibility of meeting up with Terry & John. Talk was going for an Indian rather than playing gigs, but anything's possible!

I'm quite interested in doing a recording/playing event - loosely in the style of what I do with Alan and ASSR - but my initial thoughts were that it would be best to do that in LA. But I guess London could work too.

There'd be lots of logistics to figure, but I think the main obstacle would be to get Terry on board. I was going to reach out to him anyway and will do.

10th Feb - Been in touch with Terry about potential Charlie ventures and without having anything specific to report, it's at least on the agenda.

You now need to show your encouragement/thoughts, which I'll be more than happy to forward directly to Julian & Terry.

You can post your thoughts on the forum page, plus send them to me at  (charliefan@hotmail.co.uk)

It's really up to us, to show there is still interest in more CHARLIE 'stuff' !!!

I suppose it'll then be a matter of 'fingers crossed' - 'wait and see' !!!

True Charlie fans would welcome anything involving these musicians.  They created so much magic, there is no need to call it a day forever.

Recent sales are certainly not down to the music that's for sure, the Charlie target audience were not reached and that is an understatement.

One last thing on a personal level I feel lyrically explicit tunes do not fit in to to the Charlie agenda and in fact spoil the songs.

Well.......you did ask!

Hi Barnet Dog (sorry, I don't know your real name), but I'm in total agreement with you on that and I'm no prude.

I know of a few others that have commented on exactly the same thing.

I'd liked to think that Terry could (or should) have used his experienced/inventive writing skills, as he did with David Dickenson & Bargain Hunt (**** TV - KOD).

I too agree and reading reviews from Amazon and the like it would seem fans just dont want it, iexpletives are totally pointless for such well crafted tunes. As for more from the original members the answer will always be yes yes yes.

Charlie have been blessed with great drummers Steve Gadd and Bob Henrit, Steve Alexander who has played on the last two Charlie albums and is a brilliant drummer so therefore the position is already filled.

Hello,

it was not good marketing! I got all Charlie LPS and CDs. But I heard from Eysium THIS (2017) Year! I am really sad. It is for me an excellent album. Whats about pledge. Crowdfunding. A lot of people (when they are reached by good marketing)  I will tell and share. Don't give up! I never heard Charlie in german radio. Start something new. Quality will be heard! What can I do?

Johannes

This is the feedback I received yesterday from Terry T, to your question/posting:

Now re Elysium... unfortunately I don't have a deal with a major label or a respected indie label. I don't get any advances for albums I pay for everything studio time outside my own studio .. I then get a royalty on every one sold. These small labels send copies to all the Magazines but no-one is interested in Charlie they don't have a pr department or staff. I thought the various Charlie forums would inform anyone interested  Spotify has killed new music as there is no income stream for producers writers and musicians  streaming royalties are so pathetic that one million streams will earn you $10 as a writer..the audience are not buying music they are renting it !

To the 'anonymous' fan that wants a signed copy of Elysium

If you email me (charliefan@hotmail.co.uk) I'll advise you of how Terry responded to your request
