I think if I had to pick my favourite Charlie song it would have to be Don’t Look Back, absolutely love this song, the guitar work and the feel of the song just really touches me....
I'm only 22, but I was introduced to Charlie by my father about ten years ago. He found the Lines album when he was a young teenager (I think hose album covers must have been half the reason they sold them). It was the only album of theirs that he had... I liked the album so much I decided to see if they made any others over the years. To our surprise there was quite a lot of good music to enjoy. My favorite song still happens to be No Strangers in Paradise from the Lines album, even after hearing everything else.
I don't have a 'favourite' as such, but after playing through my Charlie collection, the one track that I end up humming throughout the day seems to be 'Pressure Point'.
After my daughters wedding I created a private YouTube clip of the day (videos and photos) to track ' Spending my life with you' - a very apt track in my opinion.
When I show the clip to friends (don't know who Charlie is), they all say what a lovely tune and lyrics.
If there is one Charlie track that never really rocked my boat, it's First Class Traveller (personal taste I suppose!!!!)
i don't have a specific favorite song however I do think both "No second chance" & "Lines" are absolutely stellar. Both are so good that you can listen to the both of them straight through without having to fast forward past one song. Truthfully all their musical output is very good its just that I grew up listening to those two albums (CD's) the most so I have a stronger connection to them!
I am learning guitar and jam along with several songs; Abandon Ship, Call Me Dave, LA Dreamer, Johnny Hold Back. I am blessed with an instructor who can nail the chord structure in just a couple listens to the songs, and my play list is increasing every day...when I eventually find a song we can’t figure out I will ask Terry for some hints...Kitchens of Distinction kinda fits in this category at present...
Hard to pick a favourite, but Good Morning America I always perk up to. Witty lyrics and excellent arrangement. I always crank the volume up on that one!
I'm with Peter on this one, 'Pressure Point' oozes melody and lush keyboards, great song. Mind you there are plenty of others I like because Terry is such a great songwriter. Another song that raises the hairs is 'Only Dreaming'.

Having listened to this song a number of times, lyrics seem real personal about a relationship which being the optimist I hope worked out. Great song, great melody, great lyrics and great harmonies with a superb bridge. The guitar solo and synth always reminds me of the Rockford Files theme.
I think Keep Me In Mind could be my favorite. It's off the Lines album and is in 6/8 time signature so a little different right from the start. Recorded at Trident Studios in London, where so many classic big-sounding albums were made during the 70s from Queen, Elton John, Genesis and more. Although Charlie production could quite often be epic in proportion, especially the vocals, Keep Me In Mind is an exercise in restraint, almost to the point of minimalism. From the opening chords on a gently pulsating Rhodes with simple one-in-a-bar guitar harmonics, to the excellent guitar line that plays in counterpoint to the vocal, to John's octave bass fills and Steve Gadd's naked little snare fills, the temptation to 'fill up the tracks' was skillfully and completely resisted. The call and response vocals in the chorus hint that there's power waiting to be unleashed. But no, the chorus dissolves back into a single sustained Hammond B3 chord that briefly ignites into fast Leslie before we're back to next to nothing and the lead in to the next verse. After the second chorus ends with a similar return to sparse Rhodes and guitar harmonics you'd be forgiven for thinking - a full four minutes into the track by now - that we're done here: slap on another chorus; rinse and repeat and start the fade. But no, out of nowhere comes a change of key, a brand new section and a scorching sax solo from guest Pete Zorn, beautifully mirroring the 'agony' Terry speaks of in the earlier vocal. Even then, the temptation to fade on this now fully epic sounding section is resisted and the song has an actual descending-chord 'ending.'
This is a 'big moment' movie tune, for sure, should any music supervisors be monitoring these forums.
I'd have to go for Summer Romances- I think it may have been their opening track in 76 when I saw them. Still sticking to that and the Fantasy Girls album which for me is their seminal offering. Loved the driving crescendo of that track.......still love it. Maybe closely followed by ' Its Your Life. Just supreme musicianship and quality lyrics.
It's Inevitable has been one of my top 5 favorites since I bought the 45 when it came out. I can't explain why, but felt the need to hear it again today and found the Charlie site from there. That song never disappoints.
