I think if I had to pick my favourite Charlie song it would have to be Don’t Look Back, absolutely love this song, the guitar work and the feel of the song just really touches me....

Hi Glen!

I'm only 22, but I was introduced to Charlie by my father about ten years ago. He found the Lines album when he was a young teenager (I think hose album covers must have been half the reason they sold themsmile). It was the only album of theirs that he had... I liked the album so much I decided to see if they made any others over the years. To our surprise there was quite a lot of good music to enjoy. My favorite song still happens to be No Strangers in Paradise from the Lines album, even after hearing everything else.

Best Regards

I don't have a 'favourite' as such, but after playing through my Charlie collection, the one track that I end up humming throughout the day seems to be 'Pressure Point'.

After my daughters wedding I created a private YouTube clip of the day (videos and photos) to track ' Spending my life with you' - a very apt track in my opinion.

When I show the clip to friends (don't know who Charlie is), they all say what a lovely tune and lyrics.

If there is one Charlie track that never really rocked my boat, it's First Class Traveller (personal taste I suppose!!!!)

I always liked "Just One More Smiling Face" and "Thirteen" from No Second Chance.

But there are that many great songs too choose from.

First heard Charlie in 1977 when Radio 1 played "No Second Chance" and Don't Look Back". I was hooked!

i don't have a specific favorite song however I do think both "No second chance" & "Lines" are absolutely stellar. Both are so good that you can listen to the both of them straight through without having to fast forward past one song. Truthfully all their musical output is very good its just that I grew up listening to those two albums (CD's) the most so I have a stronger connection to them!

I am learning guitar and jam along with several songs; Abandon Ship, Call Me Dave, LA Dreamer, Johnny Hold Back.  I am blessed with an instructor who can nail the chord structure in just a couple listens to the songs, and my play list is increasing every day...when I eventually find a song we can’t figure out I will ask Terry for some hints...Kitchens of Distinction kinda fits in this category at present...

Hard to pick a favourite, but Good Morning America I always perk up to.  Witty lyrics and excellent arrangement.  I always crank the volume up on that one!

I'm with Peter on this one, 'Pressure Point' oozes melody and lush keyboards, great song. Mind you there are plenty of others I like because Terry is such a great songwriter. Another song that raises the hairs is 'Only Dreaming'.

Charlie

Pressure Point

Written by Terry Thomas

Oh these four walls

Don't make no home

I'm here with you but still alone

Unspoken thoughts fill me head

Unspoken words that should be said

So let it out before it blows

This pressure point is getting close

No these four walls don't make no home

I'm here with you but still alone

I'm so afraid the things I say

Will hurt you so, drive you away

Things can't go on the way they are

We've let it go just much too far

So let it out before it blows

This pressure point is getting close

No these four walls don't make no home

I'm here with you but still alone

I said hold on there's too much to do

And I (oh no) just watch over you

Oh but (i'll wait)  I said (i'll wait) till you make it too

Oh these four walls

Don't make no home

I'm here with you but still alone

Unspoken thoughts fill me head

Unspoken words that should be said

So let it out before it blows

This pressure point is getting close

No these four walls don't make no home

I'm here with you but still alone

Having listened to this song a number of times, lyrics seem real personal about a relationship which being the optimist I hope worked out. Great song, great melody, great lyrics and great harmonies with a superb bridge. The guitar solo and synth always reminds me of the Rockford Files theme.

Tough, tough question ....  so many great tunes ...

I guess it would depend on the mood I was in ...

If I'm out cruisin' down the highway, pedal to the metal, it would be "Johnny Hold Back"

Killer Cut, Lines, Fantasy Girls, LA Dreamer, ... if I'm just listening ...   Oops, that's not just one now is it ?

Fantastic songwriting, fantastic band !
