Hello,

I'm working on a tour history of the Doobie Brothers, who toured with Charlie as opener in the summer of 1977.

Does anyone happen to know the venues for the shows listed below? Charlie may have played additional dates in July, August or even beyond that. I'm simply going by an advert I saw in Billboard Magazine from June of 1977.

At any rate, thanks for looking, and thanks, in advance, for your assistance!

   Jul 01, 1977: Rapid City, South Dakota

   Jul 03, 1977: Kansas City, Missouri

   Jul 06, 1977: Green Bay, Wisconsin

   Jul 08, 1977: Springfield, Illinois

   Jul 09, 1977: Louisville, Kentucky

   Jul 16, 1977: Kalamazoo, Michigan

The last night of the 1977 tour was on July 21st, 1977 Dayton OH, Hara Arena.

Thanks for the info. That helps to know the end point of the Charlie/Doobies tour. I'll give the concert a listen.

The Green Bay WI. show is Brown County Arena. I was at that show. I was 14 and it was my 4th concert. I had the ticket stub up until 1991 at which point it got lost in a move.

Your post is kind of old so maybe you have this info already. Thanks for having the date 'cause I was looking for that.

I'm pretty sure the July 1 concert in Rapid City was at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.

Only wish the link to the 1977 show worked.....  Saw Charlie (interviewed also) Waterbury CT May 1978 at the Palace.  Would love to hear the show from 1977 but.......link doesn't work!!  In fact every page has an error.

Yes, the Charlie-Music site (apart from the Forum page) has issues.

Julian Colbeck who is the custodian of the website is aware of this, but he's presently going through a bit of ill-health.

We can ony hope the site will be brought back to 'life' as soon as his health & time allows

I have a recording from a local Philly radio station that was broadcast October 17, 1977 from Chicago. Loved that performance. Anyone know where that was done and what the circumstances were surrounding the show?

 remember steve gadd telling me about the doobies having there own plane on this tour, even the pilot was on it, terry supposedly refused to get on it in the end.

Charlie opened for the The Doobie Brothers on Sunday July 17, 1977 at the Toledo Sports Arena. I have ticket stub if you need to verify.

The Springfield, IL, show was performed at the Illinois State Fair grounds.  The stage was set up in the center of the infield and the fans were in the grandstands and in some on-the-track seating.  My very first Doobies show.
